This year’s celebration was especially significant as it coincided with Hansem Vietnam’s 10-year anniversary. To honor a decade of growth and partnership, Freelancer Day 2025 was designed around a powerful theme: “Boosting Performance” – exploring how technology, tools, and human expertise can work together to shape the future of localization.

More than an annual gathering, Freelancer Day 2025 became a clear reflection of how far Hansem Vietnam – and its global freelancer community – has come.

From Regional Roots to a Global Community

Looking back to four years ago, Freelancer Day began as a modest regional initiative, connecting a small group of linguists primarily from Southeast Asia.

In contrast, Freelancer Day 2025 brought together over 100 freelancers from 30 countries, spanning Southeast Asia, East Asia, Europe, and Africa. Their presence reinforced a clear message: freelancers are not regional resources, but strategic partners in Hansem’s global operations.

Despite being held online, the event created a strong sense of connection, proving that geographical distance is no barrier to collaboration, learning, and shared growth.

A Decade Beyond Borders: Celebrating the People Behind the Journey

One of the most emotional moments of the event was the 10-year review session, hosted by Ms. Tuong Vi, who guided participants through Hansem Vietnam’s journey – from a carefully planted seed to the thriving organization it is today.

The session culminated in the recognition of Top 5 Outstanding Freelancers, honoring linguists who have consistently contributed to Hansem’s quality and growth over the years.

What made this segment especially moving were the winners’ personal reflections – heartfelt stories about their journeys with Hansem Vietnam, their challenges, growth, and long-term collaboration with the company.

This moment powerfully highlighted what the past decade has truly been about: people, partnership, and trust built over time.

Program Content: Boosting Performance Through Tools, Habits, and AI

Building on this emotional foundation, Freelancer Day 2025 transitioned into two in-depth training sessions focused on practical performance improvement.

Training Session 1: Boosting Performance Through Tools, Resources, and Workflow Habits (Speaker: Loi Hoang – Project Manager)

This session focused on the “small but critical” factors that often impact project quality – such as overlooked style guides, misinterpreted instructions, or underutilized CAT tool features.

Rather than viewing CAT tools as mere software, the session reframed them as quality enablers, emphasizing the importance of:

• Consistent Termbase usage
• Effective Translation Memory reference
• Running QA checks as a professional standard

What truly stood out was the high level of interaction. Freelancers actively raised questions about terminology conflicts, QA warnings, and real-life project scenarios. Ms. Loi responded with concrete examples and practical guidance, helping participants understand not just what to do, but why it matters in client-facing projects.

Training Session 2: Traditional MT vs. Generative AI – Beyond Translation (Speaker: Hy Truong – Resource Manager)

The second session explored the evolution from traditional Machine Translation to Generative AI, offering a clear comparison between:

• Pattern-based MT, optimized for speed and generic content
• Generative AI, powered by transfer learning, capable of zero-shot translation and improved context handling

Freelancers showed strong interest in this topic, asking in-depth questions about:

• AI reliability in low-resource languages
• Quality risks and inherent bias
• Data security and confidentiality
• The level of human intervention still required

The trainers addressed these questions in real time, reinforcing a key takeaway: AI is a powerful tool – but human expertise remains irreplaceable.
